The national flag of bahrain represents the government of the kingdom of bahrain. The kingdom of bahrain used a simple red flag. Since the flags of the emirates along the Persian gulf are more or less red in background, in the middle of the 19th century, the government of bahrain added the white background of the triangular zigzag line to the left of the flag to make it more prominent.
